About the Role

Our client, a leading national logistics provider, is seeking a highly organized and experienced Remote Senior Fleet Logistics Coordinator to join their dynamic team. This is a fully remote, permanent position based in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal, ZA , offering the flexibility to work from anywhere within South Africa. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in optimizing fleet operations, ensuring efficient route planning, and maintaining high standards of service delivery across all transport activities. This role demands a proactive approach, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. As a senior member of the team, you will be instrumental in driving continuous improvement initiatives within the logistics department.

Key Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and manage efficient transportation and logistics strategies to support business objectives. Oversee daily fleet operations, including scheduling, dispatching, and tracking of vehicles to ensure timely deliveries and pickups. Coordinate with drivers, operations managers, and other stakeholders to resolve logistical challenges and ensure smooth workflow. Monitor fleet performance metrics, analyze data, and generate reports on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on-time delivery rates, fuel efficiency, and vehicle utilization. Implement and enforce company policies and safety regulations related to fleet operations. Manage inventory and distribution of supplies and equipment as needed. Conduct regular risk assessments and develop contingency plans to mitigate potential disruptions. Maintain accurate records of all transportation and logistics activities. Provide guidance and mentorship to junior logistics staff.

Requirements

Proven experience (minimum 5 years) in a similar logistics or fleet management role. Demonstrated experience in route planning and optimization software. Strong understanding of transportation regulations and compliance. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills. Proficiency in using fleet management software and MS Office Suite. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote setting. A Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is preferred. Experience with managing a large fleet is a significant advantage. Must be based within South Africa.
