Job summary
Placements24 seeks a Senior Energy Storage Systems Architect to lead the design of cutting-edge energy storage solutions (BESS) for grid-scale and microgrid projects. This fully remote role supports initiatives affecting regions such as Nelspruit, Mpumalanga, ZA.
You will define system requirements, evaluate chemistries, inverters, and control strategies, and develop integration plans with renewables and grid infrastructure. A strong background in MATLAB/Simulink or HOMER is essential.
Qualifications
- Master's or PhD in Electrical or Chemical Engineering.
- 10+ years in energy industry with 7+ years in energy storage design.
- Proven BESS design experience and battery tech knowledge.
- Experience with MATLAB/Simulink, HOMER for simulations.
- Strong leadership, communication, and project lifecycle understanding.
Responsibilities
- Lead design and architecture of large-scale energy storage (BESS).
- Define system requirements and roadmaps for storage solutions.
- Evaluate battery chemistries, inverters, and control strategies.
- Develop integration plans with renewables and grid infrastructure.
- Perform techno-economic feasibility studies for storage projects.
- Mentor engineering teams and ensure regulatory compliance.
