Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer for a remote role focusing on power systems and control design within a renewable energy context. You will design, analyze, and document complex electrical systems, lead load calculations, and coordinate with cross-functional teams across borders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in electrical design, with a strong focus on power systems and control.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar design software.
• Experience with simulation/analysis tools such as ETAP or PSCAD.
• Strong knowledge of electrical codes and standards (SANS, IEC, NEC).

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of complex electrical systems including power distribution and control.
• Perform load calculations, fault current analysis, and protective device coordination.
• Create detailed schematics, wiring diagrams, and layouts using CAD tools.
• Conduct remote site surveys and data gathering for design development.
• Collaborate with mechanical, software, and project teams to ensure project execution.
• Provide technical guidance to junior engineers in a remote team.
• Troubleshoot design issues and ensure compliance with codes and standards.
• Stay updated on advancements and best practices in electrical engineering and renewable energy.
• Prepare technical reports, specifications, and client-facing documentation.
