Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Senior Electrical Design Engineer for a fully remote, permanent role within South Africa. You will design complex electrical schematics and power architectures, run simulations, and generate detailed manufacturing documentation.

Applicants should have 5+ years in electrical system design, expertise in analog/digital circuits and power electronics, and proficiency with Altium Designer, OrCAD, SPICE, and MATLAB/Simulink.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in electrical system design.
• Expertise in analog and digital circuit design, power electronics, and control systems.
• Proficiency with schematic capture and PCB layout tools (Altium Designer, OrCAD).
• Knowledge of EMC and functional safety standards.
• Experience with simulation tools such as SPICE and MATLAB/Simulink.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop complex electrical schematics, control systems, and power distribution architectures using CAD tools.
• Conduct electrical simulations and analysis to validate designs and predict performance.
• Prepare detailed technical documentation including design specs, test procedures, and manufacturing instructions.
• Collaborate with mechanical engineers, software developers, and project managers for seamless execution.
• Perform component selection, vendor evaluation, and ensure compliance with standards.
• Troubleshoot electrical issues during prototyping, testing, and production.
• Contribute to process improvements and design methodologies.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
