Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Research Scientist in Bioinformatics to join our innovative R&D team. This fully remote role focuses on developing computational methods to translate large-scale biological data into actionable insights for therapeutic development.

The ideal candidate has a PhD and 5+ years in bioinformatics, strong skills in Python, R, Perl, ML, and data visualization, and the ability to collaborate with wet-lab scientists and publish results.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in a quantitative field (bioinformatics, computational biology, CS).
• 5+ years post-PhD in bioinformatics research (industry or academia).
• Proficiency in Python, R, and Perl; shell scripting experience.
• Experience with statistical analysis, ML, and data visualization.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement advanced bioinformatics algorithms and pipelines for genomic, transcriptomic, and proteomic data.
• Design computational experiments to investigate mechanisms and identify drug targets.
• Collaborate with wet-lab scientists to interpret results and guide research.
• Manage large biological datasets with data integrity and accessibility.
• Present findings at conferences and publish in peer-reviewed journals.
• Mentor junior researchers and contribute to department strategy.
