Job summary

Placements24 in South Africa is seeking a seasoned Remote Senior Community Development Officer to drive strategic development initiatives across communities. The role is fully remote, but will engage with regions like East London in the Eastern Cape and beyond.

You will plan, implement, and evaluate programs, build partnerships with government, NGOs and community leaders, and mentor a team of professionals.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Community Development, Public Policy, Social Sciences, or related field.
• Minimum 7–10 years of experience in community development with leadership experience.
• Proven ability to plan, implement and evaluate complex development projects.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and partnership-building skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and oversee strategic plans for community development projects.
• Identify community needs and opportunities for intervention and growth.
• Build and maintain relationships with community leaders, local government, NGOs, and other stakeholders.
• Secure funding and manage budgets for development programs.
• Lead and mentor a team of community development professionals.
• Monitor and evaluate program outcomes for impact and sustainability.
• Facilitate community consultations and participatory planning processes.
• Develop reports and present findings to senior management and external partners.
• Stay abreast of best practices and innovations in community development.
• Ensure compliance with organizational policies and funding requirements.
