Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Chemical Process Engineer to join a global chemicals leader in a fully remote capacity supporting SA operations, including near East London, Eastern Cape. This role requires a strategic thinker to optimize processes, lead major design projects, and ensure safety and quality from afar.

You will design, evaluate, and optimize processes, maintain P&IDs, mentor engineers remotely, and drive continuous improvement across locations.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering.
• 9+ years of progressive process engineering experience in chemical manufacturing.
• Experience with process simulation and design of complex operations.
• Experience managing large-scale process improvement projects.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• Excellent leadership and remote collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and optimization of complex chemical processes.
• Conduct feasibility studies, evaluations, and economic analyses.
• Maintain P&IDs, PFDs, balances; document engineering work.
• Provide remote mentorship to junior engineers and ops teams.
• Oversee process scale-up from pilot to production.
• Perform root-cause analysis and implement solutions.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with R&D, operations, PM, safety across locations.
• Drive yield, cost reduction, and waste minimization; pursue improvements.
• Stay updated on new chemical engineering technologies.
