Placements24 is seeking a Senior Chemical Process Design Engineer to lead the conceptual and detailed design of complex chemical plants from a remote capacity. The role supports clients worldwide, with home office flexibility based in Centurion, Gauteng, or other remote locations.

You will develop PFDs and P&IDs, run feasibility studies, perform simulations, size equipment, and prepare mass/energy balances and cost estimates.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering; Master's degree is a plus.
• 7+ years of experience in chemical process design and engineering, preferably in consulting or EPC settings.
• Proficiency in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, CHEMCAD) and CAD tools.
• Solid understanding of process safety principles (HAZOP, LOPA) and environmental regulations.
• Experience in conceptual design, FEED, and detailed design phases.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills for remote collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of PFDs and P&IDs for complex chemical plants.
• Conduct feasibility studies and conceptual design for new processes and expansions.
• Perform process simulations and equipment sizing calculations.
• Develop mass and energy balances, equipment specs, and preliminary cost estimates.
• Collaborate virtually with multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated design solutions.
• Review vendor data and ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
• Provide guidance to junior engineers and stakeholders during design and execution.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of design standards and tools.
• Present project progress and technical solutions via virtual presentations and documentation.
