Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a dedicated Procurement Officer to support a fully remote team, assisting operations across Mossel Bay and other locations in the Western Cape. You will manage the procure-to-pay cycle for industrial supplies, MRO items, and consumables, collaborating with internal stakeholders to ensure timely delivery and cost-effective purchases.

The ideal candidate has a Diploma or Bachelor’s in SCM/related field with 2–4 years in procurement, strong negotiation skills, and

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 2–4 years of experience in procurement or purchasing, preferably with industrial supplies.
• Strong understanding of procurement processes and best practices.
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel; experience with procurement software/ERP is advantageous.
• Detail-oriented, able to work independently in a remote environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end procurement for industrial supplies, consumables, and MRO items.
• Identify, evaluate, and select vendors based on price, quality, and reliability.
• Negotiate pricing and terms to achieve cost savings.
• Process requisitions and generate purchase orders in the procurement system.
• Monitor orders and ensure timely delivery.
• Maintain records of procurement transactions and supplier information.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand supply needs and resolve issues.
• Track supplier performance and address non-compliance or quality concerns.
• Assist in inventory management and forecasting for key supplies.
• Ensure adherence to procurement policies and procedures.
