Placements24 is seeking a dedicated Purchasing Officer for a fully remote role supporting our national distribution network across South Africa. You will manage supplier relationships, process orders, and contribute to inventory planning from your home office.

The ideal candidate has a diploma or degree in a related field, proven purchasing experience, and strong negotiation, communication, and organizational skills to drive cost savings and ensure compliant procurement practices.

Competenze

• High school diploma or equivalent; a diploma or degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field is a plus.
• Proven experience in a purchasing or procurement role, preferably within a remote work environment.
• Familiarity with procurement processes and best practices.
• Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, comfortable communicating via digital platforms.
• Proficiency in using procurement software and standard office applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
• Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision, and maintain a high level of productivity.
• Demonstrated negotiation skills and a keen eye for detail.
• Understanding of inventory management principles.
• A reliable internet connection and a suitable home office setup.

• Process purchase requisitions and issue purchase orders to approved suppliers.
• Source new suppliers and maintain relationships with existing ones.
• Obtain quotes and negotiate prices and terms with suppliers.
• Monitor order status and ensure timely delivery of goods and services.
• Track inventory levels and communicate with relevant departments to anticipate needs.
• Maintain procurement records and update supplier databases.
• Research market trends and competitor pricing to ensure competitive sourcing.
• Assist in the resolution of delivery discrepancies and quality issues.
• Prepare reports on procurement activities, spend analysis, and supplier performance.
• Ensure compliance with company purchasing policies and procedures.
