Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a dedicated Remote Process Safety Engineer to enhance safety protocols and compliance across South Africa operations. You will develop, implement, and manage PSM systems while collaborating virtually with site teams to uphold high safety standards from a remote location.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Chemical Engineering, at least 6 years in process safety, and strong knowledge of HAZOP/PHAs, PSM elements, and risk management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience focused on process safety engineering in chemical/petrochemical industries.
• In-depth knowledge of PSM elements, hazard identification, and risk management techniques.
• Experience conducting and facilitating HAZOP studies and other PHA methodologies.
• Ability to work independently and communicate complex safety information clearly in a remote setting.
• Strong understanding of safety standards/regulations applicable to chemical manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive Process Safety Management (PSM) programs and policies.
• Conduct and facilitate process hazard analyses (PHAs), including HAZOP, What-If, and FMEA studies.
• Perform risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies to reduce potential hazards.
• Ensure compliance with local and international process safety regulations and industry best practices.
• Investigate process safety incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
• Provide remote training and guidance to site personnel on process safety principles and procedures.
• Maintain safety documentation and records for auditing and regulatory purposes.
