Placements24 is seeking a detail-oriented Remote Chemical Engineer specializing in Safety Compliance to join its operational excellence team. You will oversee remote audits, develop safety protocols, and guide site personnel on process safety and environmental protection.

The role requires strong experience in HSE regulations (PSM), risk assessments (HAZOP/LOPA), and incident investigations, with excellent report-writing and remote collaboration skills to support multiple sites from Randburg.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related safety/environmental science.
Minimum 7 years of experience in chemical process safety and environmental compliance.
In-depth knowledge of international and national HSE regulations, including Process Safety Management (PSM) standards.
Proven experience in conducting risk assessments (e.g., HAZOP, LOPA) and incident investigations.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent report-writing capabilities.
Proficiency in using digital collaboration tools for remote work.

Responsibilities

Conduct remote process safety audits and risk assessments of chemical facilities.
Develop and update safety procedures, guidelines, and training materials in line with regulatory requirements.
Investigate safety incidents, analyze root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
Provide expert advice and support to site teams on chemical safety, hazard analysis, and environmental protection.
Monitor changes in HSE regulations and ensure policies remain compliant.
Maintain records of safety performance, training, and compliance activities.
