Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly qualified Remote Process Safety Engineer to join their organization. This role is fully remote and serves clients worldwide, focusing on process safety in chemical operations.

You will conduct PHAs, develop safety management systems, advise on compliance with OSHA/COMAH, and lead risk mitigation. The ideal candidate has a chemical engineering degree, 6+ years of experience, and excellent communication for remote collaboration from Bloemfontein.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in process safety engineering.
• In-depth knowledge of PHA methodologies and risk assessment techniques.
• Familiarity with international safety standards (e.g., OSHA, COMAH).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of remote collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) including HAZOP, What-If, and FMEA studies.
• Develop and implement robust safety management systems and procedures.
• Perform risk assessments and recommend mitigation strategies to reduce potential hazards.
• Ensure compliance with relevant safety regulations and industry standards.
• Investigate incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and corrective actions.
• Provide expert guidance and training on process safety principles to clients and internal teams.
