Placements24 is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer with extensive experience in power generation to join our remote team in Mossel Bay. You will design, analyze, and optimize mechanical systems within power plants, ensuring efficiency, reliability and safety while collaborating remotely with cross-functional teams.

Ideal candidates have a strong background in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and FEA, and thrive in a remote work setting that still supports on-site Mossel Bay operations

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a specialization in power generation facilities.
• Proficiency in mechanical design software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools.
• Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer principles.
• Experience with power plant operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, suitable for remote collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical design, analysis, and troubleshooting for power generation equipment, including turbines, boilers, and pumps.
• Conduct performance testing, data analysis, and develop recommendations for efficiency improvements.
• Develop and review technical specifications, drawings, and maintenance procedures.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant engineering standards, codes, and safety regulations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external vendors on project requirements and execution.
• Manage mechanical aspects of maintenance, repair, and overhaul projects.
