Placements24 in South Africa is seeking a seasoned Power Systems Electrical Engineer to join a fully remote team, focusing on the design and analysis of large-scale electrical power infrastructure. You will model, simulate, and optimize power systems, working with engineers and project managers across the country from your home office.

The ideal candidate holds a Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems), with 8+ years in power system analysis, design, and operations.

Qualifications

• Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems.
• Minimum 8 years of power system analysis, design, and operations.
• Expert proficiency in power system simulation tools.
• Knowledge of international and SA power system standards.

Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed power system analyses including load flow, short circuit, and transient stability.
• Design electrical components for generation, transmission, distribution networks.
• Develop protection schemes and coordinate relay settings for grid stability.
• Use power system simulation software (PSS/E, ETAP, PSCAD) for modeling.
• Collaborate with grid operators, utilities, stakeholders.
• Prepare technical reports, design docs, and project proposals.
