Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly experienced Remote Power Electronics Design Engineer to join a distributed engineering team. You will lead end-to-end design, simulation, prototyping, and testing of high-efficiency power electronic systems for EVs, renewables, and industrial power supplies.

The ideal candidate has a PhD/masters in Power Electronics with 7+ years of experience, strong thermal management knowledge, and proficiency in PSpice, LTspice, MATLAB/Simulink, and ANSYS.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Electronics.
• 7+ years of progressive experience in power electronics design.
• Deep knowledge of power conversion topologies, control strategies, and magnetic component design.
• Proficiency with circuit simulation software (PSpice, LTspice) and system modeling tools.
• Experience with C/C++ programming for embedded control systems is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop advanced power electronic circuits and systems, including AC/DC, DC/DC converters, and inverters.
• Perform detailed simulations and analysis using industry-standard tools.
• Select power semiconductor devices (MOSFETs, IGBTs, SiC, GaN) and passive components.
• Develop control algorithms and firmware for power converters.
• Design and optimize control loops for stable operation under varying loads.
• Oversee construction and testing of prototypes, troubleshoot issues, and iterate on designs.
• Generate design documentation including schematics, layouts, test reports, and BOMs.
• Collaborate with firmware, mechanical, and testing engineers.
• Stay current with developments in power electronics technology and manufacturing trends.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers in remote team.
