Job summary

Valenture Institute is seeking a Learning Designer to design, develop and quality‑assure secondary school online course content and activities, ensuring alignment with CAPS, NSC, SACAI standards and Valenture's internal design guidelines.

You will work remotely with cross‑functional teams to create engaging, pedagogically sound online learning experiences, develop formative and summative assessments, and maintain quality through review cycles.

Qualifications

• Must have a relevant teaching qualification with subject specialisation.
• Knowledge of the CAPS curriculum and experience teaching or developing learning material.
• Experience in learning design or digital content development is advantageous.
• Experience in the EdTech field is advantageous.
• Knowledge of digital learning principles.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Comfortable working remotely and independently.
• Able to prioritise in a fast-paced environment.
• Stable internet connection required.

Responsibilities

• Design curriculum-aligned online content and assessments.
• Plan and analyze subject areas for online delivery.
• Use Valenture LMS and learning technologies to inform design decisions.
• Create formative learning activities to track progress.
• Develop summative assessments with marking guidelines per CAPS/NSC/SACAI.
• Adapt curriculum materials into engaging online learning experiences.
• Source reference materials to support course development.
• Collaborate with Product, Learning Technology, and production teams.
• Develop content from various sources into augmented online formats.
• Brief in graphics and track external assets.
• Follow learning design principles, templates, SOPs and quality standards.
• Self-review against curriculum and quality requirements.
• Participate in peer reviews and act on feedback.
• Review and improve learning design approaches.
• Provide feedback on Learning Design processes.
• Manage development work to deadlines and report risks.
• Collaborate with Senior Learning Designer and stakeholders.
• Participate in team rhythms and development planning.
