Placements24 is seeking a seasoned Remote Network Infrastructure Specialist to join a globally distributed IT solutions team. This fully remote role within South Africa focuses on designing, implementing, and securing scalable networks, including LANs, WANs, VPNs, and cloud integrations with AWS/Azure/GCP.

The ideal candidate has strong TCP/IP, routing protocols, firewall and security expertise, and hands-on experience with major vendors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in network infrastructure design, implementation, and management.
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, DNS, and DHCP.
• Hands-on experience with Cisco, Juniper, and other major network hardware.
• Proficient with cloud networking platforms (AWS VPC, Azure VNet, Google Cloud VPC).

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain scalable and secure network infrastructures (LANs, WANs, VPNs, WLANs).
• Monitor network performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize for high availability.
• Develop and enforce network security policies (firewalls, IDS/IPS, access controls).
• Manage cloud networking environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid cloud integrations.
• Troubleshoot complex network issues remotely and ensure service continuity.
• Plan and execute network upgrades, migrations, and deployments.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders in a virtual environment.
• Document network configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in network infrastructure design, implementation, and management.
• In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, DNS, DHCP, and other core networking protocols.
• Hands-on experience with network hardware from major vendors (Cisco, Juniper, etc.) and network security technologies.
• Proficiency with cloud networking platforms (AWS VPC, Azure VNet, Google Cloud VPC).
• Excellent remote troubleshooting skills and experience with network monitoring tools.
• Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a remote setting.
