Placements24 is seeking a highly motivated Remote Network Infrastructure Specialist to join their IT department. This role is fully remote across South Africa and focuses on design, deployment, maintenance, and troubleshooting of LANs, WANs, firewalls, routers, switches and wireless networks.

The candidate should have 5+ years of experience with Cisco/Juniper hardware, TCP/IP, BGP/OSPF, and firewall management. CCNA/CCNP are desirable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/IT or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 5 years in network administration and infrastructure management.
• Proven expertise with Cisco, Juniper, or similar hardware.
• Hands-on firewall management experience (Fortinet, Palo Alto, Cisco ASA).
• Experience with network monitoring tools like SolarWinds, PRTG, Nagios.
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, MPLS.
• Excellent remote troubleshooting and documentation skills.
• Certs such as CCNA or CCNP are highly desirable.

About the Role

You will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of our company's network infrastructure. Key Responsibilities

Requirements

• In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, MPLS, and other routing and switching protocols.


• Hands-on experience with firewall management (e.g., Fortinet, Palo Alto, Cisco ASA).


• Experience with network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, PRTG, Nagios).


• Strong understanding of network security principles and best practices.


• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with a strong ability to diagnose issues remotely.


• Excellent communication and documentation skills.


• Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent are highly desirable.
