About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Remote Network Infrastructure Specialist to join their expanding global team. This role is entirely remote, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere within South Africa. You will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and managing robust and scalable network infrastructure solutions that support our company's diverse operations. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of network protocols, security best practices, and cloud networking technologies. Key Responsibilities

Design, deploy, and maintain complex network infrastructure, including LANs, WANs, VPNs, and wireless networks. Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues proactively to ensure maximum uptime and minimal latency. Implement and manage network security measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and access controls. Collaborate with system administrators and cloud engineers to integrate network services with server and cloud environments. Develop and maintain comprehensive network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and procedures. Evaluate and recommend new network technologies and solutions to enhance performance and security. Provide remote technical support to internal users and assist with network-related escalations. Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in network engineering and security. Participate in capacity planning and network architecture design to support future growth. Manage vendor relationships for network hardware and software procurement and support.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Minimum of 6 years of experience in network administration and engineering. In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP, OSPF, and other core networking protocols. Hands-on experience with network hardware from major vendors (e.g., Cisco, Juniper, Aruba). Proficiency in network security principles and tools (firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS). Experience with cloud networking platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) is highly desirable. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose complex network issues remotely. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, essential for a remote team environment. Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent are a plus. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote setting.
