A rapidly growing technology firm specializing in cloud infrastructure solutions is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Remote Network Infrastructure Specialist. This position is fully remote, allowing you to work from anywhere within South Africa, though a strong internet connection is paramount. The role involves the design, implementation, monitoring, and maintenance of robust and scalable network infrastructures supporting our cloud-based services. You will be responsible for ensuring network security, optimal performance, and high availability across our distributed systems. The ideal candidate possesses deep expertise in networking protocols, hardware, and security best practices, and thrives in a remote, collaborative environment. Key Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and manage complex network infrastructures, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.
• Monitor network performance and security, identifying and resolving potential issues proactively.
• Implement and maintain network security measures, including intrusion detection/prevention systems and access controls.
• Troubleshoot and resolve network connectivity and performance problems for internal and external users.
• Develop and maintain network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and procedures.
• Participate in capacity planning and network upgrades to meet evolving business needs.
• Collaborate with development and operations teams to ensure seamless integration of network services.
• Stay current with emerging network technologies and industry trends.
• Respond to network alerts and incidents 24/7 as part of a rotating on-call schedule.
• Contribute to the automation of network deployment and management tasks.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in network engineering, network administration, or a similar role.
• In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP, OSPF, and other networking protocols.
• Hands-on experience with network hardware from major vendors (e.g., Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet).
• Strong understanding of network security principles and best practices (e.g., firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS).
• Experience with cloud networking environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in network monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix, SolarWinds).
• Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, essential for remote collaboration.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote setting.
• Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent are a plus.
