Placements24 is seeking a Lead Structural Engineer to guide design teams and shape technical direction for diverse global projects. You will mentor engineers, develop innovative designs, and ensure structures meet high international standards from conception through construction.

The role emphasizes leadership, remote collaboration, and strategic project oversight, with a focus on safety, reliability and performance in steel, concrete and composite structures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering.
• Pr Eng registration with ECSA is essential.
• 12+ years of structural engineering experience with 5+ years in lead/senior design roles.
• Experience designing steel, concrete, and composite structures.
• Proficiency in ETABS, SAP2000, SAFE and BIM (Revit Structure).
• Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of SANS and international building codes.
• Experience leading remote or distributed teams desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead the structural design process for diverse projects from conception to completion.
• Develop innovative, safe, cost-effective structural solutions; ensure buildability and codes compliance.
• Oversee and mentor a team of structural engineers and technicians.
• Perform complex structural analysis and design calculations with advanced software.
• Review and approve drawings, specs and construction documents.
• Collaborate with architects, PMs and other disciplines for integrated design.
• Conduct site visits and provide technical support during construction.
• Stay updated on advancements in structural engineering and materials.
• Develop and maintain client relationships; present proposals and updates.
• Manage resources, timelines and budgets to ensure delivery of projects.
