Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer with extensive experience in power distribution to join its pioneering, fully remote team. This role guides the design, implementation, and optimization of robust power distribution networks for critical infrastructure projects, with an operational center near Sandton.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with specialization in Power Systems.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in electrical power distribution engineering.
• Proficiency with ETAP, PSS/E or similar software; strong leadership and remote team management.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and engineering of high-voltage and medium-voltage power distribution systems.
• Develop substation design, protection schemes, and grid interconnection strategies.
• Oversee selection of electrical equipment, including switchgear, transformers, and protective relays.
• Ensure all designs comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and utility requirements.
• Mentor and guide a team of electrical engineers, fostering technical development and project excellence.
• Collaborate effectively with project managers, clients, and regulatory bodies in a remote work environment.
