Placements24 is seeking a Lead Electrical Design Engineer to spearhead the concept and execution of advanced electrical systems for smart city projects. This fully remote role offers flexibility and the chance to work with a diverse, global team.

The ideal candidate will have 8+ years in electrical design, strong leadership and communication skills, and hands-on experience with CAD tools and electrical codes. Remote collaboration across disciplines is essential for success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in electrical design engineering.
• Experience leading electrical design projects, preferably in urban infrastructure or smart city initiatives.
• Proficiency with CAD software (AutoCAD Electrical, Revit MEP) and electrical design tools.
• Strong understanding of electrical codes and standards (SANS, IEC)
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, essential for remote team management.

Responsibilities

• Lead the electrical design process from concept to construction support for complex projects.
• Develop electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, and control system architectures.
• Specify electrical equipment including switchgear, transformers, generators, and cabling.
• Perform load calculations, power distribution studies, and fault current analysis.
• Mentor junior electrical engineers and designers in a remote setting.
• Collaborate with civil, mechanical, and software teams for integrated solutions.
• Review contractor submittals and respond to technical queries during construction.
• Ensure compliance with relevant electrical codes and standards.
