Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a proactive Remote IT Support and Systems Administrator to manage our IT infrastructure from a remote location. You will support end-users, administer servers (Windows and Linux), AD, and cloud services such as Office 365 and G Suite, ensuring high availability for a distributed workforce.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in IT, strong networking, and the ability to work independently from home in a fully remote role within South Africa.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in IT or related field, or equivalent work experience.
• 5+ years in IT support and systems administration.
• Experience with Windows Server and Linux server administration.
• Proficient in Active Directory management and group policy.
• Strong networking knowledge: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs.
• Experience with Azure or AWS is a strong plus.
• Excellent remote troubleshooting and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently in a remote role.

Responsibilities

• Provide remote technical support to end-users and resolve hardware, software, and network issues.
• Administer servers (Windows/Linux), AD, and cloud services (Office 365, G Suite).
• Monitor system performance, perform preventive maintenance and troubleshoot issues.
• Manage network infrastructure (routers, firewalls, VPNs) and ensure secure connectivity.
• Enforce IT security policies and protect company data.
• Perform backups and disaster recovery planning/testing.
• Develop and maintain IT documentation and user guides.
• Manage IT assets and software licenses.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices.
