Placements24 is seeking a highly skilled Remote Systems Administrator to manage and secure cloud and on-premises IT infrastructure from anywhere in South Africa. You’ll handle server maintenance, patching, disaster recovery planning, and virtualized environments, while collaborating remotely with teams and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Systems Administrator in IT infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of Windows Server and Linux operating systems.
• Experience with cloud platforms like AWS or Azure.
• Proficiency in scripting for automation (PowerShell, Python, Bash).
• Excellent troubleshooting and remote work capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain server hardware and operating systems (Windows Server, Linux).
• Manage and monitor cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or similar).
• Implement and maintain system security measures, including firewalls and access control.
• Perform regular system patching, updates, and vulnerability assessments.
• Troubleshoot and resolve system performance, network, and application issues.
• Develop and execute backup and disaster recovery plans.
• Automate routine tasks using scripting (PowerShell, Bash).
• Provide remote technical support to internal users and document procedures.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices in system administration.
