Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a skilled Technical Support Engineer for a fully remote role based around Centurion, Gauteng, South Africa. The position focuses on Tier 2/3 support, server administration, and end-user computing environments, offering a chance to work with diverse IT infrastructure solutions for business clients.

The ideal candidate will have strong Windows Server/AD knowledge, virtualization and cloud experience, and solid problem-solving and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years in a technical support or systems administration role.
• Strong Windows Server, Active Directory, and Group Policy knowledge.
• Proficient in TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPN troubleshooting.
• Experience with virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS).
• Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, or MCSA are advantageous.
• Must be eligible to work in South Africa and able to work remotely with a home office setup.

Responsibilities

• Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 technical support for hardware, software, and network issues.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve complex technical problems reported by end-users and system alerts.
• Install, configure, and maintain servers, workstations, and network devices.
• Manage and monitor IT infrastructure, ensuring high availability and performance.
• Perform regular system updates, patches, and security configurations.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, including network diagrams, procedures, and knowledge base articles.
• Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to resolve escalated technical issues.
• Provide technical guidance and training to junior support staff and end-users.
• Participate in the planning and implementation of new IT projects and infrastructure upgrades.
• Ensure compliance with security policies and best practices across all IT systems.
