Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Remote IT Support Specialist to handle the technical helpdesk for a SA-based team. You will be the first contact for employees, resolving issues across hardware, software, and networks with a focus on prompt, clear communication.

Roles include AD management, remote device setup, and knowledge-base contributions, all within a fully remote SA-wide environment. You’ll join a collaborative team committed to reliable IT service delivery and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as IT Support Specialist or Help Desk Technician.
• Strong knowledge of Windows and macOS operating systems.
• Hardware troubleshooting across desktops, laptops, printers, mobile devices.
• Familiar with TCP/IP, DNS and DHCP concepts for connectivity issues.
• Experience with remote support tools and ticketing systems.
• Excellent verbal and written communication with non-technical users.

Responsibilities

• Provide first-level technical support via phone, email, and chat.
• Install, configure, and troubleshoot desktop OS, apps, and peripherals.
• Diagnose and resolve hardware/software issues; escalate when needed.
• Manage user accounts and access rights in Active Directory.
• Assist with remote hardware/software setup for new hires.
• Document issues and resolutions in the ticketing system.
• Contribute to IT knowledge base articles and user guides.
• Participate in IT projects such as upgrades or rollouts.
• Follow up with users to ensure issue resolution and satisfaction.
• Maintain high levels of customer service in all interactions.
