Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Mechanical Engineer with HVAC specialization to design and optimize systems for commercial and industrial projects. The role is based in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, but offers a fully remote work arrangement, enabling you to contribute from anywhere.

You will perform load calculations, equipment selection, and energy modeling while collaborating with architects, PMs, and other engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with strong thermodynamics and fluid mechanics focus.
• Minimum of 4 years hands-on HVAC design and analysis experience.
• Proficiency in HVAC design software (HAP, Trace 3D, AutoCAD) and energy simulation tools.

Responsibilities

• Design HVAC systems for commercial, industrial, and residential applications, ensuring codes and standards compliance.
• Perform load calculations, system sizing, and equipment selection for HVAC components.
• Conduct energy modeling to optimize performance and minimize environmental impact.
• Prepare detailed design drawings, specs, and performance reports using industry software.
• Collaborate with architects, PMs and other disciplines to integrate HVAC into projects.
• Troubleshoot and support existing HVAC installations remotely.
• Stay current with HVAC technologies, refrigerants and sustainable practices.
• Manage project deliverables and timelines remotely with stakeholders in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal.
