Placements24 is seeking an experienced Head of E-commerce Operations to drive online growth for a leading FMCG client. This remote-first role allows you to work anywhere in South Africa while leading an all-digital operation.

You will oversee website management, merchandising, online marketing campaigns, and end-to-end order fulfillment, ensuring superior customer experiences. Strong leadership in remote environments, strategic thinking, and a passion for ecommerce excellence are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, E-commerce, or related field.
• 7+ years of e-commerce management experience in FMCG.
• Experience managing online retail platforms (Shopify, Magento).
• Strong digital marketing knowledge (SEO, SEM, social media, email).
• Proficiency with web analytics tools and A/B testing methodologies.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
• Strong leadership for remote teams; excellent communication.
• Experience with online order fulfillment and logistics.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a comprehensive e-commerce strategy to drive online sales, acquisition, and retention.
• Manage day-to-day operations of the e-commerce platform (content, merchandising, promotions).
• Oversee the full online customer journey from navigation to post-purchase support.
• Collaborate with marketing to implement digital campaigns to drive traffic and conversions.
• Optimize UX and conversion rates via testing and data analysis.
• Manage relationships with third-party providers (payments, logistics).
• Analyze performance metrics, generate insights, and drive continuous improvement.
• Ensure efficient inventory and timely order fulfillment for online sales.
• Stay abreast of e-commerce trends and opportunities in FMCG.
