Job summary

Placements24 in South Africa seeks a Financial Compliance Officer to join a remote-first fintech team. You will design and oversee a compliance program to meet FICA, POPIA, AML and KYC requirements, and liaise with regulators and auditors.

You will lead risk assessments, investigate potential breaches, train staff, and report to management while maintaining thorough records. The ideal candidate has 6+ years in compliance within financial services or fintech and relevant certifications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Law, Finance, Business Administration or related field.
• Master's degree or CAMS/CRCM is a plus.
• Minimum of 6 years' experience in compliance, risk or legal roles in financial services or fintech.
• In-depth knowledge of South African regulations (FICA, POPIA, AML, KYC).
• Proven track record developing and implementing compliance programs.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and monitor a comprehensive compliance program for fintech.
• Stay updated on FICA, POPIA, AML, and KYC changes and adjust policies.
• Conduct risk assessments and audits to identify vulnerabilities.
• Investigate compliance breaches and regulatory reporting.
• Deliver training on compliance to employees.
• Advise management on compliance matters and liaise with regulators and auditors.
• Maintain records and promote a culture of compliance.
