Placements24 invites applications for a Lead Compliance Officer to guide regulatory adherence for a pioneering global fintech. This remote role is based in Cape Town, South Africa, and offers the chance to shape robust compliance frameworks for international and local regulations.

The ideal candidate will have 8+ years in compliance/risk, in fintech or financial services, with strong leadership and communication skills, and familiarity with local SA and international standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Law, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Professional certifications (e.g., CAMS, CRCM) are highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage the company’s global compliance program aligned with FAIS, FICA, POPIA, GDPR, and other regulations.
• Conduct regular risk assessments and identify compliance vulnerabilities and risks.
• Establish and maintain internal controls and procedures to prevent and detect non-compliant behavior.
• Oversee implementation of policies and provide ongoing training to staff.
• Act as primary contact for regulatory bodies, auditors, and external experts.
• Investigate and resolve compliance breaches or issues.
• Prepare regular reports for senior management and the board on compliance status.
• Stay updated with changes in laws/regulations impacting fintech.
• Champion a culture of ethical conduct and compliance across the organization.
