Placements24 is seeking a detail-oriented Construction Estimator for a fully remote role in South Africa. You will develop comprehensive cost estimates for a range of construction projects, collaborating with project managers, engineers and procurement teams.

The ideal candidate has a minimum of 5 years in estimating, with proficiency in PlanSwift, Bluebeam and Excel, and the ability to read architectural and engineering drawings.

Responsibilities

About the Role

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Construction Estimator to join their team on a fully remote basis. This role is crucial for accurately calculating the costs associated with construction projects, enabling the company to submit competitive and profitable bids. You will work closely with project managers, engineers, and procurement teams to develop comprehensive cost estimates. Key Responsibilities

• Analyze blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects.
• Quantify materials, labor, and equipment required for projects and obtain accurate pricing from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Prepare bid proposals, including detailed breakdown of costs, and ensure timely submission.
• Review bids and negotiate with subcontractors and suppliers to secure favorable pricing.
• Maintain a database of costs, suppliers, and subcontractor information for future reference and analysis.
• Collaborate with project teams to refine estimates based on project changes and value engineering opportunities.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Construction Estimator .
• Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., PlanSwift, Bluebeam, Excel) and a strong understanding of construction methods and materials.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings and specifications.
• Excellent analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills .
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present estimates clearly and concisely.
