Responsabilités

About the Role

Our client, a national distributor of fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), is seeking an accomplished Regional Delivery Manager to oversee operations primarily centered around Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape . This leadership role is critical for ensuring the efficient and timely delivery of products to a wide network of clients across the region, including wholesalers, retailers, and smaller businesses. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in logistics management, exceptional team leadership capabilities, and a deep understanding of the Eastern Cape's geographical and logistical challenges. This position operates on a hybrid model, requiring regular on-site supervision of distribution hubs and delivery teams in and around Port Elizabeth , while also allowing for strategic planning and administrative tasks to be performed remotely. Your expertise will be vital in driving operational excellence and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and optimize the day-to-day delivery operations across the Eastern Cape region.


• Lead, train, and motivate a team of delivery drivers, dispatchers, and warehouse staff.


• Develop and implement efficient delivery routes and schedules to maximize efficiency and minimize transit times.


• Ensure compliance with all transportation regulations, safety standards, and company policies.


• Monitor fleet performance, maintenance, and fuel consumption, implementing cost-saving measures.


• Oversee the accurate handling of goods, including loading, unloading, and inventory management at distribution points.


• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, addressing any delivery-related issues or concerns promptly.


• Analyze delivery performance data, identifying key performance indicators (KPIs) and areas for improvement.


• Manage operational budgets, ensuring cost-effectiveness and profitability for the region.


• Implement and enforce strict health and safety protocols for all distribution and delivery activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.


• Minimum of 6 years of experience in logistics and delivery management, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity.


• Proven experience managing delivery operations within the FMCG or retail sector.


• Strong knowledge of the Eastern Cape region's geography and logistics infrastructure.


• Excellent leadership, team management, and interpersonal skills.


• Proficiency in logistics management software, route optimization tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.


• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.


• Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and control operational costs.


• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.


• A valid driver's license; professional driver's permits are an advantage.
