About the Role

Our client, a distinguished name in the Logistics & Warehousing sector, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Logistics Fleet Manager to oversee and optimize their transportation fleet operations based in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape, ZA . This role is pivotal in ensuring the efficiency, safety, and cost-effectiveness of our transportation services. You will be responsible for managing a diverse fleet of vehicles, coordinating drivers, maintaining vehicles, and ensuring compliance with all transport regulations. This hybrid role allows for flexibility, balancing essential on-site management of fleet operations with the convenience of some remote work, providing a dynamic and responsive approach to fleet management in the Eastern Cape .

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day operations of the company's vehicle fleet, including scheduling, routing, and dispatching.
• Oversee a team of drivers, ensuring adherence to schedules, company policies, and safety regulations.
• Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs for the fleet to minimize downtime and ensure vehicle reliability.
• Monitor fleet performance metrics, including fuel consumption, mileage, delivery times, and maintenance costs.
• Ensure compliance with all national and international transportation laws and regulations, including driver hours, vehicle safety standards, and licensing.
• Manage relationships with external service providers, such as mechanics, parts suppliers, and fuel card providers.
• Implement and utilize fleet management software to track vehicle status, maintenance history, and driver performance.
• Investigate and resolve any issues related to fleet operations, accidents, or incidents.
• Contribute to budget planning and cost control initiatives related to fleet operations.
• Identify opportunities to improve fleet efficiency, reduce operational costs, and enhance service delivery.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in fleet management, logistics operations, or a related field, with a strong understanding of transportation management.
• Proven experience in managing a fleet of commercial vehicles and supervising drivers.
• Demonstrated knowledge of vehicle maintenance, repair, and preventative maintenance programs.
• Familiarity with local and national transportation regulations and compliance requirements.
• Proficiency in fleet management software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
