About the Role

Our client, a vibrant community organization in Mossel Bay, Western Cape , is seeking a passionate and organized Recreational Sports Coordinator to join their Leisure & Sports team. This role is responsible for the planning, implementation, and management of a diverse range of recreational sports programs and activities for various age groups within the community. The Coordinator will ensure the delivery of high-quality, safe, and engaging sporting experiences that promote health, fitness, and community involvement. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sports program management, excellent interpersonal skills, and a genuine desire to foster a love for sports and physical activity in Mossel Bay .

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and execute recreational sports leagues, tournaments, and special events.
• Recruit, train, and supervise part-time staff and volunteers involved in program delivery.
• Develop and manage program budgets, ensuring efficient use of resources and adherence to financial guidelines.
• Promote programs and events through various channels, including community outreach and digital marketing.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of participants by implementing and enforcing safety protocols and rules.
• Manage facility bookings and ensure equipment is available, maintained, and in good condition.
• Liaise with local schools, community groups, and sports associations to build partnerships and enhance program offerings.
• Register participants, manage team rosters, and maintain accurate program records.
• Address participant inquiries and concerns, ensuring a positive experience for all involved.
• Evaluate program effectiveness and make recommendations for improvements and future offerings.

Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in sports program coordination, event management, or a related field.
• Proven ability to plan and execute recreational sports events and leagues.
• Experience in supervising staff and volunteers.
• Knowledge of various sports rules and regulations.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Experience with budget management and basic financial administration.
• A valid driver's license and willingness to travel locally within the Mossel Bay area.
• Certification in First Aid and CPR is required.
• A relevant qualification in Sports Management, Recreation, or a related field is advantageous.
