Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a diligent Process Safety Engineer to strengthen safety management in Klerksdorp, South Africa. The role focuses on hazard assessments, developing procedures, and promoting a strong safety culture across oil & gas operations.

You will lead PHA studies (HAZOP/LOPA), develop PSM programs, perform audits, investigate incidents, and train staff to mitigate risks to personnel, asset, and environment in SA facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
• 4+ years of process safety experience in Oil & Gas or chemical industries.
• Knowledge of PSM regulations (OSHA PSM) and industry best practices.
• Experience with risk assessment methodologies and tools.
• Understanding of chemical plant operations and equipment.
• Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct Process Hazard Analyses (PHA) including HAZOP and LOPA studies for existing and new processes.
• Develop, implement, and maintain Process Safety Management (PSM) programs and procedures.
• Perform safety audits and inspections to ensure regulatory compliance and company standards.
• Investigate process safety incidents, determine root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
• Provide technical expertise and training on process safety principles to engineering and operational staff.
• Manage risk assessment documentation and track closure of safety action items.
