Placements24 is seeking a highly competent Process Safety Engineer to join their technical team in Nelspruit. You will lead hazard analyses, develop PSM programs and ensure the safety of oil and gas processing facilities in Mpumalanga.

You will conduct PHAs (HAZOP/LOPA), review designs for safety, and provide training to operations personnel, driving a strong safety culture at a major facility near Nelspruit.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or related field.
• 6+ years in process safety engineering in chemical/oil & gas.
• Knowledge of OSHA PSM, EPA RMP, and industry best practices.
• Experience with PHAs and risk-based safety studies.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

About the Role

This critical role focuses on ensuring the integrity and safety of our oil and gas processing facilities, implementing robust systems to prevent major accidents. You will conduct hazard analyses, develop safety procedures, and provide expert guidance on process safety management principles to minimize risks and protect personnel, assets, and the environment in the Mpumalanga industrial area .

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct and facilitate Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) such as HAZOP, LOPA, and What-If studies.

Requirements

• Proficiency in conducting PHAs and developing risk-based safety studies.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Experience with safety instrumented systems (SIS) is a plus.
