Placements24 seeks a specialized Chemical Engineer focused on safety to join the Klerksdorp-based operations. You will develop and manage process safety programs, perform risk analyses, and promote a strong safety culture across all chemical processes and facilities.

The role requires deep PSM knowledge, regulatory compliance expertise, and robust incident investigation capabilities. You will lead safety training and implement interlocks to ensure a safe working environment for all employees.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering; advanced degree or certification in Safety Engineering is a strong advantage.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in chemical process safety, risk assessment, and regulatory compliance.
• In-depth knowledge of PSM principles, including OSHA or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive process safety management (PSM) programs.
• Conduct hazard identification and risk analysis (HAZOP/LOPA) and safety audits.
• Investigate incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with national and international safety regulations and standards.
• Develop and deliver safety training programs for engineers and staff.
• Design and implement safety systems and interlocks for chemical processes.
