Placements24 in Polokwane is seeking an experienced Senior Process Safety Engineer to join our client's team. The role combines on-site collaboration with remote work to strengthen our process safety culture and safeguard operations.

You will lead PHAs (HAZOP, What-If, FMEA), develop and maintain PSM systems, investigate incidents, ensure regulatory compliance, and train teams in best practices to drive continuous improvement in safety and reliability.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related field.
Minimum 6 years of experience in process safety engineering.
In-depth knowledge of PSM principles, risk assessment techniques, and safety design standards.
Experience with incident investigation tools and methodologies.
Strong understanding of safety instrumentation systems (SIS) and relief system design.
Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

Lead and conduct comprehensive PHAs including HAZOP, What-If, and FMEA.
Develop, implement, and maintain effective Process Safety Management (PSM) systems.
Investigate process safety incidents, determine root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
Ensure compliance with relevant national and international process safety regulations and codes.
Provide technical expertise and guidance on process safety matters to engineering and operational teams.
Develop and deliver training programs on process safety awareness and best practices.
