Job summary

thyssenkrupp Uhde South Africa is seeking a Process Engineer with design-house experience to join the Process Engineering Department in South Africa. The role involves client interaction, leading small projects, and performing PFD/Hazop reviews, 3D model reviews, and manpower planning.

Proficiency in hydraulic calculations and process simulation tools is required. The candidate should hold a BSc in Chemical Engineering with about 4 years of relevant experience; Pr.Eng.

Qualifications

• BSc Chemical Engineering with 4 years engineering experience in energy/chemical refining/petrochemical industries.
• Pr.Eng. registration with ECSA is preferable.
• Experience in brownfield project execution.
• Experience in a project contracting environment performing process design.

Responsibilities

• Interact with the client to understand and deliver to Client’s expectations.
• Perform lead engineer role on various small projects.
• Lead or participate in PFD and P&ID Reviews, HAZOP and SIL reviews.
• Participate in 3D model and constructability reviews.
• Perform manpower planning and project schedule management for the projects where a lead engineer role is held.
• Development of process flow diagrams, mass & energy balances, utility balances.
• Development of piping and instrument diagrams, mechanical flow diagrams, and utility flow diagrams.
• Development of process equipment/ instrument data sheets, process philosophies, equipment/ line/ tie-in/ fluid/ utility consumption/ waste & emission lists.
• Development process philosophies, operating, safety and commissioning manuals.

We are looking for a Process Engineer with relevant design house experience to join the Process Engineering Department.

The successful candidate will be required to fulfil the following job description, but not limited to:

• Interaction with the client to understand and deliver to Client’s expectations.
• Performing lead engineer role on various small projects.
• Lead or participate in PFD and P&ID Reviews, HAZOP and SIL reviews
• Participate in 3D model and constructability reviews
• Perform manpower planning and project schedule management for the projects where a lead engineer role is held.
• Perform scoping exercises on site
• Development of process flow diagrams, mass & energy balances, utility balances
• Development of piping and instrument diagrams, mechanical flow diagrams, and utility flow diagrams
• Development of process equipment/ instrument data sheets, process philosophies, equipment/ line/ tie-in/ fluid/ utility consumption/ waste & emission lists.
• Development process philosophies, operating, safety and commissioning manuals

The incumbent must be in possession of a BSc. Chemical Engineering degree with 4 years engineering experience in the energy and chemical/ refining / petrochemical industries and experience in a project contracting environment performing process design.

Pr. Eng. registration with ECSA is preferable.

Experience in brownfield project execution.

The candidate should have experience in the following software:

• Hydraulic calculations (AFT Fathom, AFT Arrow, AFT Impulse)
• Process Simulation Software (Aspen or Hysys)
