Job summary

thyssenkrupp Uhde South Africa is seeking a Senior Piping Engineer to lead piping design for petrochemical, refinery and chemical plants. You will interact with clients to understand expectations and drive lead-engineering on multiple projects.

The role requires a B.Tech/B.Sc in Mechanical Engineering with about eight years of contracting experience in energy and chemical sectors, plus ECSA registration preferred and NEC knowledge as an added advantage.

Qualifications

• B.Tech / B.Sc Mechanical Engineering degree required.
• 8 years engineering experience in contracting environment on energy/chemical refining projects.
• Professional Registration with ECSA preferable.
• Brownfield project execution experience.

Responsibilities

• Interact with the client to understand and deliver to Client’s expectations.
• Performing lead engineer role on various projects.
• Participate in PFD and P&ID Reviews, HAZOP & SIL reviews
• Lead 3D model and constructability reviews
• Perform manpower planning and project schedule management for the projects where a lead engineer role is held.
• Perform scoping exercises on site
• Front end and detail Piping Design for Petrochemical, Refinery and Chemical Plants
• Stress analysis and flexibility calculations
• Design of pressure piping systems for: columns, drums, pumps, re-boilers, heat exchangers, air coolers, reactors, compressors, fired heaters, etc.
• OBL & IBL piping design – piperacks, tank farms, sleeper ways, onsite and offsite utilities, flares, cooling towers, steam generation plants, firewater reticulation, underground piping networks, analysis of tie ins.

We are looking for experienced Senior Piping engineer with relevant design house experience to join the Plant Layout & Piping Engineering Department.

The successful incumbent will be required to fulfil the following job description but not limited to:

The ideal candidate must be in possession of a B.Tech / B. Sc Mechanical Engineering degree with 8 years engineering experience in a contracting environment working on projects in the energy and chemical/ refining / petrochemical industries.

Professional Registration with ECSA is preferable.

A working knowledge of NEC would be an added advantage.

Experience in brownfield project execution.
