Job summary

thyssenkrupp Uhde South Africa invites experienced Civil and Structural Engineers to join our Civil and Structural Engineering Department. You will lead engineering efforts on energy and chemical projects, perform PFD/P&ID reviews, participate in HAZOP & SIL reviews, and manage scoping and manpower planning on site.

The ideal candidate holds a BSc./B.Eng. Civil/Structural Engineering with 4 years in contracting for energy or chemical/refining sectors; ECSA registration is preferable, NEC

Qualifications

• BSc./B.Eng. Civil/Structural Engineering degree required.
• 4 years engineering experience in contracting, energy or chemical sectors.
• Professional registration with ECSA preferred; NEC knowledge an added advantage.

Responsibilities

• Interact with clients to understand and deliver expectations.
• Perform lead engineer role on projects, including manpower planning.
• Participate in PFD and P&ID reviews, HAZOP & SIL reviews, 3D model checks.
• Prepare design criteria, specifications and scoping on site.
• Coordinate with other disciplines and liaise with clients and vendors.

We are looking for experienced Civil and Structural Engineers with relevant design house experience to join the Civil and Structural Engineering Department.

The successful candidate will be required to fulfil the following job description but not limited to:

• Interaction with the client to understand and deliver to Client’s expectations.
• Performing lead engineer role on various small projects.
• Participate in PFD and P&ID Reviews, HAZOP & SIL reviews, 3D model and constructability reviews.
• Perform manpower planning and project schedule management for the projects where a lead engineer role is held.
• Perform scoping exercises on site

• Liaise with other engineering disciplines and gather information required for the structural designs
• Preparation of Design criteria and specifications

• The ability to interpret MFD’s and P&ID’s
• Liaise with clients and vendors to ensure alignment.
• Knowledge of design and sizing procedures and development of civil & structural engineering deliverables

The successful candidate must be in possession of a BSc./ B.Eng. Civil/ Structural Engineering degree with 4 years engineering experience in a contracting environment working on projects in the energy and chemical/ refining / petrochemical industries.

Professional Registration with ECSA is preferable.

A working knowledge of NEC would be an added advantage

Experience in brownfield project execution.
