thyssenkrupp Uhde South Africa seeks an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join the Mechanical Engineering Department. The candidate should hold a BSc./B.Eng. in Mechanical Engineering with about 8 years of contracting experience in energy/ chemical sectors, with ECSA registration preferable and NEC knowledge

Qualifications

• BSc./B.Eng. Mechanical Engineering degree with 8 years experience in contracting environment (energy/chemical sectors).
• Brownfield project execution experience is required.
• ECSA registration is preferable; NEC knowledge is an added advantage.

Responsibilities

• Interact with clients to understand and deliver to client expectations.
• Perform lead engineer role on multiple projects.
• Participate in PFD/P&ID reviews, HAZOP & SIL reviews, and 3D model/constructability reviews.
• Plan manpower and project schedules for projects where you are the lead engineer.
• Perform on-site scoping and define scope.
• Design and specify pressure-containing equipment.
• Prepare project standards and engineering specifications.
• Prepare MCFDs and issue/enquire documentation to vendors; review vendor documents for compliance.
• Prepare Scope of Work / Works Information for services and manage consultants.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer with relevant design house experience to join the Mechanical Engineering Department.

The successful candidate will be required to fulfil the following job description but not limited to:

• Interaction with the client to understand and deliver to Client’s expectations.
• Performing lead engineer role on various projects.
• Participate in PFD and P&ID Reviews, HAZOP & SIL reviews, 3D model and constructability reviews
• Perform manpower planning and project schedule management for the projects where a lead engineer role is held.
• Perform scoping exercises on site
• Specification and design of pressure containing equipment
• Preparation of project standards, engineering and technical specifications
• Preparation of MCFDs
• Proficient in preparation and issuing technical specifications and enquiry documentation to vendors and subsequent review of vendor documentation to ensure design integrity and compliance with specifications.
• Preparation of Scope of Work / Works Information for supply of services and management of consultants to deliver to scope, quality and schedule.

The successful candidate must be in possession of a BSc./ B.Eng. Mechanical Engineering degree with 8 years engineering experience in a contracting environment working on projects in the energy and chemical/ refining / petrochemical industries.

Professional Registration with ECSA is preferable.

A working knowledge of NEC would be an added advantage

Experience in brownfield project execution.
