Responsibilities

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Process Design Engineer to join their team in Bloemfontein , contributing to the design and enhancement of chemical manufacturing processes. This role is essential for translating conceptual designs into detailed engineering plans, ensuring that processes are efficient, safe, and compliant with industry standards. You will work on a variety of projects, from initial feasibility studies to detailed engineering packages, collaborating closely with project managers, equipment suppliers, and construction teams. The hybrid model allows for collaborative design sessions and site visits, balanced with focused engineering work.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop process flow diagrams (PFDs) and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
• Perform process calculations, including mass and energy balances, heat transfer, and fluid dynamics.
• Specify process equipment, such as pumps, reactors, heat exchangers, and separation units.
• Conduct process safety reviews and hazard assessments (e.g., HAZOP).
• Prepare technical specifications and datasheets for process equipment and instrumentation.
