Job summary

thyssenkrupp Uhde Africa seeks an experienced Senior C&I Engineer to join the C&I Engineering Department. The role requires designing control systems, leading client interactions, and performing extensive reviews (PFD/ P&ID, HAZOP, SIL) on energy and chemical/process projects.

Ideal candidates hold a BSc./B.Eng in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, with 8 years in contracting environments; ECSA registration is preferred, NEC experience is a plus, and brownfield work is common.

Qualifications

• BSc./B.Eng. Electrical/ Electronic Engineering degree.
• ECSA registration preferred.
• NEC knowledge is an added advantage.
• Brownfield project execution experience.
• Experience in energy, chemical, refining or petrochemical industries.
• 8 years of engineering experience in a contracting environment.

Responsibilities

• Interact with the client to understand and deliver to Client's expectations.
• Perform lead engineer role on various projects.
• Participate in PFD and P&ID Reviews, HAZOP, 3D model and constructability reviews.
• Lead or participate in SIL Reviews.
• Manpower planning and project schedule management for projects with a lead engineer role.
• Perform scoping exercises on site.
• Develop the control system design including control narratives and supporting documents for the control and shutdown systems.
• DCS and ESD functional design.
• Development of SIL documentation and complex control narratives.
• Instrument selection and specifications.
• Develop documentation for field instrumentation design including data sheets, wiring and loop drawings and bill of materials.
• Develop communication design for control systems and data networks.

The successful candidate will be required to fulfil the following job description but not limited to:

• Interaction with the client to understand and deliver to Client’s expectations.

The successful candidate must be in possession of a BSc./ B.Eng. Electrical/ Electronic Engineering degree with 8 years engineering experience in a contracting environment working on projects in the energy and chemical/ refining / petrochemical industries.

Professional Registration with ECSA is preferable.

A working knowledge of NEC would be an added advantage

Experience in brownfield project execution.
