Qualifications

About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented Process Design Engineer to join their industrial operations team in Richards Bay . This role is focused on optimizing and developing chemical and industrial processes to enhance efficiency, safety, and product quality. You will play a key role in conceptual design, process simulation, and scale-up activities, contributing to major projects within the KwaZulu-Natal region. The ideal candidate will possess a strong analytical mindset and a passion for innovative process solutions, working within a company committed to operational excellence and technological advancement.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
• Conduct process simulations and modeling using specialized software to optimize operational parameters.
• Design and specify process equipment, including reactors, heat exchangers, and separation units.
• Perform process hazard analyses (PHAs) and implement safety measures.
• Collaborate with project teams to ensure seamless integration of new processes into existing facilities.
• Troubleshoot process issues and recommend solutions to improve yield, efficiency, and product purity.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in process design and development in an industrial setting.
• Proficiency in process simulation software such as Aspen Plus, HYSYS, or CHEMCAD.
• Strong understanding of chemical reaction engineering, thermodynamics, and mass transfer.
• Experience with HAZOP studies and other process safety methodologies.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
