Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Process Design Engineer for a petrochemical client near Klerksdorp to develop process designs for new facilities and modifications, applying chemical engineering principles and design software.

You will lead PFDs, P&IDs, simulations, equipment sizing, and feasibility studies, collaborating with mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation teams to ensure safe, compliant designs and on-time project delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering.
• 5+ years of experience in process design, preferably in petrochemical/oil & gas.
• Proficient in process simulation software (HYSYS, PRO/II, Aspen Plus).
• Strong understanding of unit operations, thermodynamics, and reaction engineering.

Responsibilities

• Develop process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
• Perform process simulations and calculations for mass and energy balances, equipment sizing, and hydraulics.
• Specify process equipment including reactors, columns, heat exchangers, and pumps.
• Conduct feasibility studies and prepare technical reports for new projects.

About the Role

Our client, a major player in the petrochemical industry located near Klerksdorp, is seeking a talented Process Design Engineer to join their expanding engineering department. You will be responsible for developing innovative process designs for new plant facilities and modifications to existing ones. This role requires a strong technical foundation in chemical engineering principles and experience with process simulation and design software.
