Job summary

Placements24 in Sandton is seeking a practical Mechanical Engineer focused on Plant Operations to join our client’s facility. You will ensure optimal performance, reliability, and safety of the plant’s mechanical infrastructure through day-to-day operational support and maintenance planning.

You will lead improvements to mechanical systems, troubleshoot issues, and work with cross-functional teams to sustain safe, efficient operations in Gauteng's economic hub.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 5+ years of experience in industrial plant operations or maintenance engineering.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with CMMS software.
• Knowledge of safety, environmental standards, and company policies.

Responsibilities

• Provide mechanical engineering support for plant operations, troubleshooting equipment failures and operational issues.
• Develop and implement effective preventative and predictive maintenance programs for mechanical assets.
• Oversee the installation, commissioning, and modification of mechanical equipment and systems.
• Conduct root cause analysis for equipment failures and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies.
• Collaborate with maintenance, operations, and EHS teams to optimize plant performance and reliability.
