Job summary

ENS is seeking a Payroll Specialist in Cape Town to join the Accounts team, reporting to the Senior Payroll Specialist. The role covers monthly payroll processing, benefits coordination, and HR liaison to resolve payroll queries.

You will interact with a payroll software provider, support external auditors, and develop reporting. A post-matric payroll/HR qualification with 3–5 years of experience is required, with African payroll knowledge as an advantage.

Qualifications

• Post matric qualification with payroll and HR administration training including payroll legislation.
• 3–5 years relevant experience in payroll.
• Knowledge of African payroll will be an advantage.
• Experience working with 1000+ employees in payroll.

Responsibilities

• Monthly processing of payroll input including starters and leavers.

• Assist external auditors as required in this area.

Job description

A vacancy for a Payroll Specialist has become available in the Accounts team in Cape Town, reporting into the Senior Payroll Specialist.

A general outline of the position is as follows:

• Monthly processing of payroll input including collating and processing information for starters and leavers
• Extensive liaison, relationship management and quality control of the payroll software service provider.
• Liaison with human resources and resolution of queries pertaining to the payroll
• Co-ordination, analysis and capturing of benefits
• Assisting external auditors as and when required in this area
• Developing reporting as and when required
• Administration of the annual salary increase process
• Other ad hoc wider tasks as and when required

Knowledge and skills

• Highest level of integrity and confidentiality
• Proficiency in office administration and the relevant computer software packages e.g. Microsoft Excel, Outlook and accounts package (3E)
• Advanced Excel
• Sound payroll administration knowledge
• Possess well developed interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels
• Client focus is essential (this is a services environment)

Qualifications and experience

• Post matric qualification with payroll and HR administration training (including a sound knowledge of payroll related legislation)
• 3-5 years relevant experience
• Knowledge of African payroll will be an advantage
• Experience of working with a large payroll of 1000+ employees
• Experience working on Praxima payroll system is highly advantageous

This is a demanding but stimulating position which will require working outside of normal office hours, when necessary.
